The Magic continued Ambazai answered. "To even touch such a stone would destroy you. Go home, you have obviously learned too much already. Knowledge can be just as dangerous as ignorance." William had an urge to close his eyes. Everything disappeared; the white room was replaced by darkness, darkness was replaced by William's house. William scowled. "I will make my own Life stone!" As he walked into his house, a voice interrupted William's thoughts. "You scared me to death! What have you been doing, awake at this hour?" William looked out the window. "Sorry mom. I didn't notice the time. I was taking classes." "At three in the morning!? What kind of teacher teaches classes at 3AM? Have you been using drugs?" William smiled and said. "Why, wizards teach classes at 3AM." As William floated up the stairs, his mother continued to rant. "Wizards! You've been using drugs! After all I've -" She stared. Williams' minor Air spell was enough to stop his mother. "I'm going to bed. Good night". William cast a few spells on his room to lock the doors; he was definitely not going to bed! He raised his hands. "Air bring me a stone! Earth give me a stone! Water form me a stone! Fire, forge me a stone! Air, Earth, Water, Fire, give the stone your power. Give the stone the power of life!" The stone glowed white. It shone grew brighter and brighter until the entire city was turned white and the stone shattered. William went to sleep. 'I'll try again in the morning', he thought. William awoke, withdrew his power, and opened his door. "I wonder if that spell is on the news", he said. He turned on the television. "--when the sky turned white. Although experts have been called in, none have offered an explanation for this strange light. According to anonymous sources, the light originated within two miles of Middletown." Someone handed the newscaster a sheet of paper. "This just in! We have received a report from the Middletown hospital that the white light has allegedly healed all of their patients. Here is Stan Goodman, interviewing a patient at Middletown Hospital." "What happened yesterday at 4:00 A.M.?" A tall, skinny man replied, "I was in my room at the hospital. I was in too much pain to sleep, and my medication was not coming until six. I heard a strange crackling noise. I walked over to my window to look, and saw a white light. A strange being called to me and I felt very calm. I don't remember what it said and after that, everything went blank. I think it was an alien!" William turned off the television. 'Always the aliens' he thought. 'Well, I guess a little more magic couldn't hurt.' William turned himself into a dragon, and flew away to the local TV station. He opened the door and ambled in. He spoke in his deep dragon voice. "I am William. I know what caused the white light." A few men screamed, a few fainted, but one brave man turned on a camera, pushed a few buttons and walked up to William. "We're here live with an exclusive interview with a dragon. His name is William. William, please tell us what it is like to be a dragon." William cast a spell, and became human again. "I'm not a dragon", he answered. "I'm a wizard. The white light was--" A loud voice interrupted, "You fool! The world of magic is not meant to be understood, by mere mortals. Do you comprehend the disaster you have unleashed? It will take hours of spells to repair this!" William recognized the voice. "Hi Ambazai. I'll fix it. Fire, burn the thoughts of wizardry from mortal minds. Water, wash their thoughts away. Air, carry their thoughts away. Earth, replace their thoughts of magic with thoughts of the World as it was". Ambazai screamed. His face distorted in pain. Then he relaxed and William felt himself being lifted into the white room. "William, you must be more careful. Do you remember what the test told you? It said 'I suggest you direct the power toward specific goals in the future.' If that spell had worked on me, I would have lost my magic. It is only my magic, which keeps me alive. You and your foolish spell have destroyed magic. We are the only wizards left." William answered, "I am sure you remember those stones you gave me, to improve my elemental magic. They taught me a third lesson. Only now, have I begun to understand why the stones placed the magic of truth so highly. Ambazai is a poor name to call you, Baaz! I am sure you have the power to fix this." Ambazai frowned. "I see you understand the meaning of my name. You have truly understood the lessons from the wizards' test. Yes, I am Baaz. My name made things too easy for one with your talent. Unfortunately, you have understood the lessons too well. I warned you, only I can understand the truth. Were you not listening? I told you, 'Ignore the second lesson, only Baaz ever truly comprehended its meaning.' You have come too close to mastering power. Only I may rule the world. You must die!" William replied. "You fool. I have already mastered Power. You never did understand. It is the primary elements which can control the world. Raw magic is nothing! Earth! Wind! Water! Fire! Destroy Baaz! I command you. Powers of the elements, destroy all who would oppose my magic!" The air turned black. The ground burned. The Earth shook. Baaz offered a grim smile. "You fool! You forget too quickly my lessons. You are truly all powerful, but you did not direct the power toward a specific goal. Your magic has taken on a life of its own! Do you think I am the only one who would oppose your magic? The earth itself opposes your magic, all oppose your magic. By existing, you disrupt the natural order. Your spells will destroy the Universe!" With that, the World turned black. The Earth died that night; every man died, every animal, even the smallest bacteria died. William only laughed. "Baaz, I care not if I destroy the World. You forget so easily that I can create a new one!" Though the elements were gone, William's power remained and he spoke another spell. "Void, I command you ---" The End
